Wrestlemania 27

So now the event is over and the dust has settled looking back to the show how was it compared to expectations?

The Rock laying the Smackdow on John Cena!
Wrestlemania 27 was a real mixed bag it wasn’t awful and yet it wasn’t good it was just somewhere in the middle with some hints of greatness trying to shine through. It was just the show as a whole from start to finish had awful momentum it was all over the place. The Heavyweight title match being the first match was a little weird especially when you had the likes of mixed tag match ahead of it.

Aside from that how was the matches? To be brutally honest the only matches worth mentioning or worth seeing were Undertaker vs. Triple, Cody Rhodes vs. Mysterio and Orton vs. CM Punk. If the rest of the matches on the card were up to par with these then the whole package of Wrestlemania would have been a lot more entertaining. Even the Rock hosting mania couldn’t save the show he had a good involvement in the show but to me it seemed The Rock was more of the focus than Wrestlemania itself.
Also the lack of money in the bank was disappointing as all the matches were basically the standard affair.

It wasn’t all bad though Triple H and Undertaker had a great match with some awesome spots both guys took a real beating. When Triple H hit the perfect tombstone I thought that was it, even knowing Undertaker won’t lose that thought popped into my head for that moment.
The Rock hitting the Rock bottom on Cena was great and about time to! helped Miz go over to win which helps set Miz as a top guy on the roster because really how many people have beat Cena at Wrestlemania, answer not many
Triple H and The Undetaker stare down before the match
The last few Wrestlemania’s have been similar to this one with only a handful of note worth matches throughout, the last Wrestlemania I would say was a good show was 24 where we had Edge vs. Undertaker, Shawn Michaels vs. Ric Flair and a good money in the bank match where we saw CM Punk win. Moreover, that show was solid throughout with great momentum.

Looking ahead to Wrestlemania 28, we already know from this weeks Raw we will see The Rock vs. Cena, which is a dream match, and the way they handle it with a year to build it up will be interesting. I really hope next years event is a return to form because this is Wrestlemania it is suppose to be the pinnacle of the WWE and from what we saw aside from a few highlights it certainly wasn’t.
