Wonder Woman and the Furies
Issue #3 cover
I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this due to the experience of coming off Emperor Aquaman #3 which felt disappointing, but Wonder Woman and the Furies is anything but a disappointment.
From start to finish, the writing is superb and it is written in such a way that keeps the pacing up which is one of the strongest aspects of the story. It deals with information that feels vital which helps flesh out this story arc there is no filler to be found here, it covers stuff you what to know.

In one issue, it deals with a lot from the creation of new Themyscira to the reasoning for the deception that led to the outbreak of the war, but it predominately takes place during the events of Emperor Aquaman which when read together forms a perfect blend in seeing both sides. It is in these two issue that the character of Wonder Woman is humanized from a cold hearted tyrant to someone who was struggling to save her people.

One gripe I do have with this issue is that it deals with information from Lois Lane and The Resistance, I would usually pass this off as something minor but it is a large plot point, when reading the issue it comes out of no where. It would have been much better if Lois Lane and the Resistance had come out prior to this as it clearly happens before this.

This is a fantastic wrap up to the series, much like Diana and Arthur their perception of the War was blurred by deception and much like both series’ it unravels this deception and we learn about the world of Flashpoint along with both characters as they come to terms with what they have done.
As I have said before to truly enjoy this series it must be read in conjunction with Emperor Aquaman and that is made even more evident in this final issue.

Legion of Doom #3

Legion of Doom Issue 3 Cover
For a series that started terribly it has certainly picked up since, both issues two and three have saved the series. After that first issue, I was tempted to drop the series but I’m glad I stuck with it to see it through to the end.

Picking up after issue two the Queens Row Penitentiary is about to hit Detroit and Cyborg is doing everything he can to stop Heatwave. As result this issue showcases how much of a bad ass Cyborg Is as he confronts this threat. Onboard  the Queens Row, things aren’t going as smoothly as expected with some altercations happening which is nice to see as it isn’t purely just for action but the reasoning adds a layer of depth to characters which was needed. When Cyborg finally goes up against Heatwave, it is not what you would expect, Cyborg takes a whole lot of punishment yet never gives up, and the confrontation is well written leaving the reader wondering to the very end.

The whole issue is a solid enjoyable read with it being the best in the three-issue arc, and the conclusion is smart and satisfying end to the series that can be appreciated if you have read all three issues.

Abin Sur The Green Lantern #3
Written by Adam Schlagman
Art by Robson Rocha & Felipe Massafera

The Abin Sur series has been solid overall it uses the source material in a unique different way diverting from what one might expect to see and this is no different for the final issue.

As in some of my other reviews, I won’t be talking about any of the plot points because firstly even if I talked briefly about the first half there is events happening even though they may not be major ones they work best going in fresh.
The dialogue is enjoyable with the back and forth between Sinestro and Abin as well as the Guardians it hits at some fundamental points of what it is to be a Green Lantern and the lack of trust and secrecy of the Guardians.
One thing that I have really liked about this series is that when you think something is going to occur, they set it up as predictable but they end up totally switching things around and this is especially the case if you have read any of the Green Lantern material prior to Flashpoint.

The whole issue builds up to an epic conclusion that leads into Flashpoint #5, it changes things to a point that in Flashpoint #5 anything could happen it is somewhat crazy the potentional it leaves open, it makes me excited to see how Flashpoint is going to end.

The Outsider #3 will be posted shortly
