Flashpoint June 29th Reviews

Hal Jordan #1

I’m a big Green Lantern fan and Geoff Johns run with the series so an alternative version of Hal Jordan has the potential to be very cool.
Those familiar with the Hal Jordan origin will be in a familiar setting for most of this issue as it essentially tells the Flashpoint origin of Hal Jordan by the book, it rarely ventures outside of that zone which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Some changes here and there would have been nice to differentiate. With that said I believe the direction this could take in future issue could be a drastically different Hal Jordan to the one we know, as a first issue it is solid I have no major complaints it was good and the art was particularly nice throughout.

Green Arrow Industries

I went into Green Arrow industries hoping for an interesting take on this Flashpoint version of the character but I was severely disappointed.
This is a one shot story, but the way it is written it feels more like the first part of an ongoing series, it builds up the plot to a conclusion that feels a weak with little pay off which ultimately leaves you thinking that the whole story was pointless. Green Arrow as a character is written like a bumbling idiot who does not learn from his mistakes, do not get me wrong characters like that can be interesting but the writing needs to be good.
Ultimately, this had so much more potential as a concept, Green Arrow a multi million-dollar weapons manufacturer on a private island using villains’ stolen weapons and equipment. That as a basis sounds great but there is zero payoff, avoid this one don’t even let the really nice cover which I might add is the best thing about the book draw you in as you will be disappointed.
